Breasts have always added to
female good looks, there happen to be different sizes and shapes of breasts
depending on the body type and genetic effect. To enhance them females do opt
for breast implant now a days. Breast implant is a surgical procedure meant for
breast augmentation, there are two types of breast implants: saline implant and silicon implant
Each type comes with unique
design and made to last for many years, earlier women used to complain about
the discomfort but modern technology has made it extremely flexible. Now women
feel more confident and comfort of natural looking breasts. Only in rare cases
implants have the tendency of getting ruptured.
Augmentation procedure:
Saline-filled implants are silicone shells filled with
sterile salt water (saline). Some are
pre-filled and others are filled during the implant operation.
Silicone gel-filled implants are silicone shells
filled with a plastic gel (silicone). Although many women say that silicone gel
implants feel more like real breasts than saline, they pose more of a risk if
they leak.
The procedure generally takes around 2-3 hours and
performed under general anesthesia to avoid any discomfort or pain during the
procedure. The surgeon will make a cut under your breasts, under your arms, or
around your nipples
reduction, depending on your body, the type of implant,
and how much enlargement is being done. Your surgeon will put the breast
implant into a pocket above or below your chest muscle. After the implant is in
place, the surgeon will suture the incision or use surgical tape to close the
wound.
Recovery & post-op care....
·
General anesthesia tend to make you
fell nauseous some patients may experience vomiting. As part of your breast
augmentation post-op care, you will receive a prescription for anti-nausea
medication, which can be taken once every six hours to control symptoms for the
first 24 to 48 hours.
·
Manage the pain with cold compresses
and over-the-counter medicines such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen. If these do
not provide adequate relief, you should take the minimum dose of prescription
pain medication necessary to ease your symptoms.
·
For muscle aches and cramping, your
breast augmentation post-op care will include a prescription for a muscle
relaxant, which can relieve muscle-related discomfort, especially in your back,
neck, chest, or shoulders. If you are taking pain medication, wait at least one
hour after taking it before you take the muscle relaxant.
·
Try to sit, stand, and walk around by
the evening of your surgery—doing so helps prevent blood clots—your breast augmentation
post-op care includes no activity beyond this for the first few days.
·
For optimal healing, you will be
instructed to sleep on your back, not your stomach or sides, for many weeks.
·
On the second day following surgery,
you may remove your bandage, but not the steri-strip bandages along the
incision. At this time you may shower, carefully patting dries the bandages. No
baths, hot tubs, or swimming will be allowed for many weeks.
·
During your recovery, you will likely
wear a special breast augmentation recovery bra designed to support your
implants and aid in healing.
How it gets ruptured...
After breast lift surgery,
small hole or tear form on the outside of the breast shell. Rupture risk is
different in both the types, ruptures might be caused by surgical error, a
fall, or very rarely the pressure exerted on the breast during a mammogram. Saline
implant ruptures are easy to spot. The breast rapidly changes shape over days
as the fluid leaks out. If a saline implant breaks, all that leaks out is
saltwater. The saltwater is harmlessly absorbed into the body. Silicone gel
implant ruptures are more difficult to notice. When the implant breaks, the
leaking silicone stays in the body. It can sometimes spread outside the breast
and into distant lymph nodes. As unnerving as that sounds, studies haven't
found that this results in any increased risk of disease. Nonetheless, if a
silicone gel implant ruptures, your doctor will probably recommend removing it
and any loose silicone.
Silicone rupture is often called the silent rupture as
sometimes the doctor and patient cannot feel or detect the rupture caused. They
can only be detected by MRI. For this reason, the FDA recommends that women
with silicone gel implants get an MRI three years after implantation and once
every two years after that.
Results...
Over the time silicone implants are more trending due
to their natural looking results and experience. Saline implant makes skin
ripple and with time they lose their natural looking factor which makes them
less in demand. The silicone implants contain platinum which is totally safe to
use while saline implants do not have platinum.
Size adjustability....
The size of the implants is pre-discussed with the
patient during consultation and also according to the requirement. Although
saline implants have the advantage of size adjustability post surgery without
any further surgical procedure the saline implants are filled after implanting
them in the breast tissue, later the fluid can be injected more if the
candidate wishes for and to reduce the size the fluid is taken out using a
syringe only.
While in silicone implants the size of standard
prefilled silicone gel implants cannot be changed. In this you can only chose
the size at the time of consultation or later you can opt for second breast
implant surgery in which the prior implant would be
taken out and new big/small implant would be inserted accordingly.
Causes & symptoms of implant rupture...
Any kind of physical trauma can cause breast implants
to rupture while it’s tough to detect rupture initially.
·
Trauma
or stress to the breast implant from intense physical activity
·
Severe
scar tissue around the implant (capsular contracture)
·
Under
filling or overfilling of the implant
·
Excessive
handing at the time of the implantation
Symptoms:
·
Pain, soreness or swelling in the breasts
·
Change in breast size or shape
·
Lumps, or softening or hardening in
the implanted region
The above listed factors may be signs of a breast
implant rupture.
Complication and risk associated with implant
rupture....
Dezire clinic says there is no risk or complication
associated with implant ruptures as it rarely happens though, Dr. Prashant
Yadav (M.S., M.C.H) has delivered many successful results with his experience
and expertise in the cosmetic world. If any rupture happens to the implants detected,
it should be removed sooner rather than later. Leaking silicone can change the
breast shape and can cause capsule changes. See your local plastic surgeon who
can give you the best options for you. The
procedure does not require hospitalization and is commonly done as an outpt.
