The cold winter months can damage your body's largest organ - your skin. On News 13 This Morning, Lauren Brigman shares tips to help keep your skin healthy and hydrated.
Megan Drye, a local esthetician for Carolina Mountain Dermatology in Arden, says it starts with your body wash.
She recommends looking for products that promote gentle exfoliation and we should be moisturizing at least once or twice a day, directly after bathing.
Megan says during the wintertime, creme moisturizers work best. She says along with SPF, there are certain ingredients to look for in moisturizers.
"Our trigger word is hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is great for hydration, it's great for plumping the skin, it's great for redness and it's not irritating on the skin," Megan says.
For extreme dryness, there are exfoliation peels that can help restore softness. Megan also recommends microdermabrasion treatments during the winter, for women and men.
She says the exfoliation helps to remove dead skin and leave your skin looking refreshed.
